Teen – Age Etiquette 1953

From the book: Teen-Age Etiquette by Grace Ramquist (copyright 1953)

Etiquette deals with one’s conduct any place where more than one person is present.

“True politeness is to do and say the kindest thing in the kindest way.”

Rules of etiquette have been set up to help us make our social contacts smoothly and happily.

POISE

The nicest social compliment one could receive is, “You have perfect poise.”

When one is at ease he/she has perfect poise, for poise means composure and self possession. Ease comes when one learns to do what is proper in all circumstances. If one makes blunders continually, never knows how to act, what to do with his/her hands, how to meet others politely, he/she cannot be poised.
